Detailed Product Description
Properties and functions: for cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated power
cable, either chemical method or physical method had been employed to
transform the molecular structure of PE from linear chain into three-dimensional network, that is thermoplastic PE had been transformed into thermosetting XLPE.
After cross-Linking, the heat-mechanical properties of the cable have been
greatly improved while its excellent electrical properties are still maintained. The nominal conductor operating temperature of XLPE insulated power cable is 90oC. The cable has the advantages of simplicity in construction, lightness in weight beside its excellent electrical, heat mechanical and anti-chemical corrosion properties. It can also be laid with no limitation of level difference along
the route.
The cable is used for electrical power transmission and distribution systems,
operating at rated voltage of U0 /U6/6 (6/10), 8.7/10(8.7/15), 12/20,
26/35(26/45)kV 50Hz, AC.
Properties of applications:
1) Max. permissible continuous operating temperature of conductor of 6-35kV
cable shall not exceed 90oC
2) Conductor short-circuit temperature not exceed 250oC. Max.
sustaining period not exceed 5 seconds
3) Bending radius:
a) Bending radius of single core cable: 20(d+D): t 5%
b) Bending radius of multi-core cable: 15(d+D): t 5%
c) D is actual outer diameter of cable sample (mm), d is actual diameter of the
conductor (mm)
4) Not restricted by the difference of level along the route
5) Installation temperature: it should be heated while ambient temperature is below
0oC
Typical constructional specifications:
1) Conductor: the conductor is composed of copper or aluminum by drawing and
pressing. It is characterized with easy adjustment and high pressing coefficient
2) Semi-conducting screen: the semi conducting materials for the conductor shield
and insulation shield are both cross-linkable; super smooth and can be
compatible with the imported three layer co-extrusion materials. The
insulation shield of 35kV is cross-linked and not strippable so as to keep
the close tie between them. The insulation shield used for 10kV or below
is made of strippable materials
3) Insulation: the insulation material for 35kV is imported cross-linked
polyethylene. The clarifying grade for material adding in the production
process is 1000, so that the cleanness is maintained
4) Metal screen: the loose copper wire or tape is used to satisfy the demand of
mechanical property and short-circuit capacity
5) Inner sheath and filler: polypropylene peeling thin film rope can be used in
filler, which can prevent water from longitudinal permeation, so as to raise
the longevity of the cable
6) The inner sheath can be made from PVC when requested by the customer. If
there is a demand for waterproofing, black linear low-density polyethylene can
be used
7) Armour: to satisfy the need for mechanical pressure when installed, galvanized
steel tape can be used
8) Outer sheath: PVC and PE of ordinary or fire-resistant type can be used when
requested by the customer. The thickness can be determined according to the
outer diameter before extrudering or the offered international standard
